At the start of 2020 my travel bucketlist was promising for the new year. But unfortunately in July of 2020 my travel bucketlist had shrinked to staying home in the Netherlands, as COVID-19 made it impossible to travel. At least, that is what I thought. When the borders started opening again, I saw how people and friends around me started to go abroad on holidays after all. It made me dream of going traveling after all. And I did. Five weeks later, I embarked on a roadtrip to Switzerland. With little to no expectations, but what a lovely surprise it turned out to be!
From the Netherlands, we drove through Belgium, to France. There we decided to stay for three days as the weather was just wonderful: 30 degrees Celsius! That is not your regular Dutch summer, so we decided to fully enjoy it. On day four, we decided to drive to Switzerland. When we arrived there we were greeted by the rain and the thunder. Was there any chance we could still go back to France, I wondered in silence. The first stop in Switzerland was Vitznau and we stayed on a camping with a tent. As soon as the rain passed, we decided to set up our tent. The weather slowly started to get better and when the tent was completely set up, the first sunrays came out.
We sat down on our camping chairs, oh happy camping life, and we took in the view. It was only then that it slowly started to sink in what a wonderful view we had. We looked right on Lake Lucerne, and with the sunrays coming out, the colour of the lake water started to change from deep dark green to glittering light green. This seemed unreal to me, I was silent for a moment, mesmerised by the beauty of this magical lake. And this was only just the beginning...
